Computer Systems Analysts I

Duties: Use standard occupational tools and knowledge to perform the following duties:  While working under close supervision and direction, expand or modify existing computer systems to serve new purposes or improve work flow.  Assist in the testing, maintenance, and monitoring of computer programs and systems, including assisting with the installation of new computer programs and systems.  Subject to review and approval by supervisors, develop, document and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards.  Provide staff and users with assistance solving computer-related problems, such as malfunctions and program problems.  Review and analyze computer printouts and performance indicators to locate code problems, and correct errors by correcting codes.  Consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles.  Confer with clients regarding the nature of the information processing or computation needs a computer program is to address.  Read manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn how to develop programs that meet staff and user requirements.  Under direction of supervisor, assist with coordination and linking of computer systems within an organization to increase compatibility and to enable information to be shared.  May perform other job duties considered normal to this occupation.

Requirements: The normal minimum requirements for the offered position are:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) field of study providing the required skills and knowledge, and 1 year of experience in any related position providing the required skills and abilities.  Note: Either a 3-year or 4-year degree is acceptable.  Employer will accept a foreign degree.  Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable.  The term suitable, in this context, means substantially compatibility with stated job academic level and experience requirements and ability to perform job duties.

  • No travel or telecommuting.  Job duties are project based and performed on long-term assignments at various unanticipated sites within the United States that may require relocation.
